It’s a pity that when people hear the name Rowan Atkinson, one of the most brilliant and prolific comedians ever, they immediately associate it with his unique character Mr. Bean and they stop there. Ingenious though it maybe, Mr. Bean is only one of the characters that Rowan Atkinson devised and developed with his friend and brilliant comedy writer Richard Curtis. He helped to change the face of comedy with the innovative series “Not the nine o’ clock news”, he produced comedy classics in his LIVE performances and John Cleese’s brainchild, where he gathered the funniest comedians for a stage show, for raising money for Amnesty International, Secret Policeman’s Ball. And of course Blackadder. Not only he co-created this comedy masterpiece but his performance there is just… pure evil. Where can you start when you are trying to describe Stephen Fry to someone who hasn’t had the luck to know him. He is the Oscar Wilde of our times and one of my role models. It is impossible not to like Stephen Fry. He is the smartest, but he is not smug. Apparently he knows almost everything and he is interested in everything. He also does everything and is brilliant at it. He is funny, he is a comedian, he is a writer, a poet, he is an actor, he is noble (have we got any other of those, these days?). He is currently the encyclopedic host of BBC quiz show QI, (2003 – ), a show that you must check out, and you will probably get addicted to it like all of us. He is best known for his starring role in Wilde (1997), a film about the life of Oscar Wilde, the brilliant, ground-breaking series A Bit of Fry and Laurie (1986-1995), with his friend Hugh Laurie, Blackadder, of course, and Jeeves and Wooster (1990-1993). The most amazing thing about Stephen Fry is however how much you will be charmed by his personality, his wit, and his kindness.
